andrade carmouche posterMiscellaneous News

Two fights will be televised Saturday, with one being the first female MMA fight in Fox broadcast TV’s history.

Liz Carmouche will take on newcomer Jessica Andrade at UFC on Fox 8 in Seattle, Washington. The fight will open the main card, and will be the first time since 2008 a female bout will air on network TV. Gina Carano versus Kelly Kobold was the last time a fight was aired on network TV via CBS.

Besides being the first female fight on Fox, it will also be the first time two gay fighters will go at it on national TV.

Carmouche (8-3) is coming off a loss to current UFC champ Ronda Rousey and is looking to get back into the title hunt. The 21 year old Andrade (9-2) is coming off a submission win over Milana Dudieva in Russia this past April and wants to make an impression in her U.S. debut.

Consequently, one of the first fighters to step into the cage on a major cable network, Julie Kedzie, will make her long awaited UFC debut against Germaine de Randamie to open the preliminary card. The fight will air on FX at 2 p.m. pacific time.

Kedzie (16-11) is coming off a submission loss to title contender Miesha Tate, while Randamie (3-2) is coming off a decision win over featherweight Hiroko Yamanaka.

Ronda Rousey will go Hollywood, as she will join an all star cast in “Expendables 3″. The film is expected to be out next year, which means filming will start this fall. UFC President Dana White gave the go ahead for Rousey, saying it won’t effect her upcoming title match with Meisha Tate on December 28. The match will co-main event UFC 168.

Gina Carano’s has been announced to play superhero Avengelyne in a movie based on the comic book. No word on when filming will start, as they are still looking for a writer.

No word on when her film “In the Blood” will be out, but is expected to be a late 2013-early 2014 release.

Should be noted Carano tweeted Julie Kedzie the best of luck in her fight this weekend, and stated that she’d be watching.
