With XFC president John Prsico leaving the company, the US portion of the company was in threat of being closed down. Those threats will nullified as XFC stated they will return to the US market in 2015.
In a press release, XFC president Myron Molotky expanded on a plan for expansion wordwide. Molotky is the international branch’s president, but will be absorbing the US market into his purview. They are planning 10 events in Latin America, 2 in Argentina, 2 in the USA, & 1 in Europe over the next year.
The press release also stated they have signed a deal with HBO for the North American market. This accompanied with a docu-series. (Watch the trailer here).
T.J. Alcock will continue as the Director of Communications, and the social media and marketing for the U.S. will be under Brook Alcock.
The brand also introduced a new logo (see picture).
This comes off the signings of three more fighters in the women’s divisions.
- Flyweight Juliana Werner (7-4) went on a five fight win streak before losing to Holly Holm in a bantamweight contest. Her only other losses were to Vanessa Porto.
- Brazilian Muay Thai standout Luana Medeiros (2-2) won 15 fights in the “art of 8 limbs” with 9 knockouts.
- Sweden’s Linn Wennergren (2-1) has won back to back as a pro and has an amateur win over InvictaFC fighter Delaney Owen.
The big question is where does this leave the US talent? Andrea Lee and Andy Nguyen have yet to debut, and champion Pearl Gonzales is wondering when she will fight next.
XFC announce several dates until February, but no word on if any of those dates will be US ones.
The XFC season 2 starts September 27th in Araraquara, Brazil with the finals of the season 1 strawweight tournament between Vanessa Gumares versus Vanessa Melo. It also starts the women’s international flyweight tournament. The finals will take place January 24th, 2015 at a yet to be announced location.
