A new strawweight champion will be crowned as Stephanie Eggink takes on Katja Kankaanpää.
The Fighters:
Stephanie Eggink (4-1): The former XFC champion win the title, submitting Angela Magana last September. She has shown mass improvement training with UFC fighter Shayna Baszler.
Katja Kankaanpää (9-1-1): Having gone 8-0 to start her career, the Finnish fighter lost a decision to Joanne Calderwood. She recently got back on the winning track, submitting Alyona Rassohyna in May.
The Storyline:
After most of the 115 talent in Invicta headed to the UFC, it dodn;’t take long for Invicta to fill the division again. Eggink is looking to gain her second pro title, while Kankaanpää is looking for her first.
What to expect:
On paper, it looks like it will be Kankaanpää unique wrestling style versus Eggink’s submission game. Kankaanpää needs to be weary of Eggink off her back. Another factor is Eggink’s boxing background, which Kankaanpää is susceptible to.
Pretty even match otherwise, as Kankaanpää’s list of opponents are more experienced than Eggink.
